Fall is here! We're a bit behind on blogging, but we have some great photos to share with you all! This past weekend, we got to shoot with Viviana and her daughter Rebecca. We have had the most wonderful honor to be a part of this family's life, capturing their family time together for the past 3 years! And that's really what we're all about - making moments and connections that transcend your normal photographer-client relationship. Here are some of our pictures from past shoot as well as our most current shoot this past weekend! 201220132014 - *On this note - this is a dead set of railroad tracks. I do not encourage / support photography on live rails - very dangerous!Let's make more memories together friends! It was a beautiful afternoon when Corin (who I know as Cj), his sister and I put together a shoot for his graduation portraits. We decided to shoot at a local park that had a horse ring. I absolutely loved the ranch-like quality of this shoot. Besides that, Cj was an excellent model... I mean "student" to shoot with! As the shoot began to unfold, we were unable to shoot in the middle of the ring because there were a couple of horses running around... luckily for us, with a little bit of charm, we were able to get some stellar horse portraits!
I have to take a minute to give my awesome wife Annie and the start of her company... Jane Hudson Designs. I took some time to shoot her doing work. Jane Hudson Designs specializes in wedding invitations and cake toppers... Hope you enjoy... but first, check out her website:
This past weekend I photographed a couple who are entering into 25 years of marital bliss. This was a unique opportunity for me seeing as how I spend a majority of my photographing with newlywed couples. As I shot Erwin and Jeanette's pre-wedding renewal portraits, there was a moment after looking at all the images where I thought to myself, "I hope and I pray that I will be as in love if not MORE in love when I hit 25 years with my beautiful Annie". Although this is 25 years in the making, you can tell that this couple is still very much in love with each other... lots of giggles turned to laughing, smiles, and firm embraces. Cheers to this week's beautiful couple! Erwin & JeanetteToook my family out south a week ago for a fun filled day in San Diego which included going to the zoo, sightseeing, and sunset chasing. I can't say that California is the most beautiful place to live because I haven't even come close to visiting half of our states, but I can say that the sunsets and the coast are absolutely breathtaking. Coffee. Lots of it.
A few weeks ago, I took the family out to Carlsbad to the flower fields to escape from the series of earthquakes that hit our area (I'll post up pictures on that soon!). About 70 miles away from the earthquake's epicenter, we found sanctuary in the serene gardens and family entertainment. Check it out! (below: My daughter is 3 now... this is her, "smile for daddy face").
Today was the day! Got to run the Coaster Run 5k for Nathan's school, the speech and language center in Buena Park. I had an amazing time getting to meet people who were running and united with purpose. I'm proud to have met people along this journey and some of the amazing kids and families that are walking on the same path as us (no pun intended... Or was it?). Thanks to everyone who donated for Nate. Words cannot express our gratitude here with our family. P.S. This post was made entirely mobile from my phone. Pardon the low quality images!! In June of 2013 a wildfire broke out in Southern California called "the Powerhouse Fire" burning miles upon miles of forest in the Angeles Mountains. During a recent business trip I had time to run out into some of the wilderness, which, if there were no fire, would have been much more difficult to navigate through. What an amazing experience! My friend Roice ran up the mountain side... spot him above and below! The crazy part about it all was that I only found out about the fire after visiting a retreat site that should have burned down along with this fire. For some reason, the fire burned wildly around the retreat and it was spared. Take a second to look up "Powerhouse Fire" from June 2013, and if you get a chance, visit the Oaks Camp & Conference center sometime and they'll show you an amazing map of the land that was spared out of the tens of thousands of acres that were burned up. Simply stunning views. Cheers! Apologies for going MIA on the blog friends! 2013 has been a wild year for us! As our year began to close I realized how much I had to catch up on... weddings, family portraits, and even personal family moments. Well, we hope you've had a wonderful holiday season with Christmas and New Years and "cheers" to good fortune and health for the upcoming year of 2014! One of the first things our family did in 2014 was retreat away to the beach (our home away from home) and being a father and photographer, I brought my camera along with me. As a rule of thumb, I try to be very picky with where I bring my camera gear when it comes to family gatherings because I've learned over the past year that "he who holds the camera exists outside the moment"... we are physically present in tons of moments, capturing wonderful emotions. So usually I tend to leave the camera gear at home to play with the family... however, this time around I couldn't help but notice how BIG my kids were getting! This past December my son turned 2 and my daughter turned 3. We took a ride down to Huntington Beach and I got to capture these heart-melting moments that I will cherish forever! Cheers to new adventures, loves, journeys, victories, & challenges in 2014!
