An 18th birthday is a huge milestone in Filipino tradition.  It is a rite of passage for a woman to be celebrated, congratulated, and "sent off" into adulthood.  A Filipino Girls 18th Birthday or "Debut" is a whole-day ceremony that looks very much like a wedding would:  celebrant gets ready, has an entourage, receives speeches and lots of best wishes, and dances the night away.  Two weeks ago I was invited to shoot for Sabrina's 18th birthday, and as you will see in the pictures below, this was a light-hearted celebration for a young woman as she entered into womanhood.  And what followed throughout the entire evening was non-stop laughter, dancing... and... more dancing!  Enjoy!

I was recently asked by a beloved friend of mine to be second shooter at one of his weddings!  I'm so glad I had a chance to follow and shoot with Marlin Gramenz of Marlin Gramenz Photography. <<Check him out, he's amazing!  Marlin had booked such a wonderful couple named Nate & Maura, and the afternoon and evening was nothing but pleasant with this attractive and kind-hearted couple.  With lots of snickers (not the candy), smiles, and laughter, I am honored to show you some of my favorite images from Nate & Maura's Wedding... **Special shoutout also to my awesome sister-in-law, Aprille Ricafranca for the beautifully stunning job on Maura's makeup!  Check out her work on her website too!

Beth and Ilya are our friends, and they're engaged!  A week ago I met with Beth and Ilya for an engagement session at Seal Beach and the moments that we captured screamed to me, "this is a SoCal type of romance!" Fall is here!  We're a bit behind on blogging, but we have some great photos to share with you all!  This past weekend, we got to shoot with Viviana and her daughter Rebecca.  We have had the most wonderful honor to be a part of this family's life, capturing their family time together for the past 3 years!  And that's really what we're all about - making moments and connections that transcend your normal photographer-client relationship.  Here are some of our pictures from past shoot as well as our most current shoot this past weekend!
