It has been a while since we last blogged! Life has definitely gotten busier this past year with the addition of a new boy in the family. This past weekend our family had a chance to celebrate mother's day in beautiful Laguna Beach! Although the skies were gloomy, our family had a blast exploring the tidepools and dipping our feet in the cool, brisk waters.

Graduation season is upon us! Such a fun and amazing time for a couple of these soon-to-be college students as they embark on new adventures! Grad photo sessions are always tricky. I'm always looking for ways to capture our grads in their natural element. Whether it be in a folksy old home, out in the midst of nature or even in the chaotic comfort of a skate park... that's what I'm all about... snagging a moment of our partners that tells a story about their life. Check out more of our grad pictures in our portfolio under the "Graduation" tab.
Hello friends! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday season! Our holiday time was full of lots of warm conversations over many meals with delightful company! Please excuse our absence from the blog-o-sphere! We were busy spending immense amounts of quality time with family getting our hearts full for yet another wonderful year! Over the break we took our family up into the mountains. Southern California is not native to snow (in most parts), and our children had been anxious to play in the snow. Honestly, It has been a while since we've "played" in the snow and we learned a few things very quickly: (1) we are cold pansies and (2) we have no idea how to prepare for the cold. Well, what we missed in our preparation for the cold I hope to make up in pictures documenting this epic moment for our family! 2015 is here! Many blessings and prayers that you have a great year! Call us or refer us for your photography needs! CHEERS TO AN AMAZING 2015!There are people in our lives that leave lasting imprints in our souls. They are the ones that you can't help but feel joy and welcome when you see them. They are the ones that you don't skip a beat with no matter how much space and time come in between you. Ryan and Jocelyn are good friends. We grew up together, worked together, and after many years of following separate pathways in life it was great to see them again. It was also awesome getting a chance to photograph a special moment in their lives with their adorably TALL son! I hope you enjoy this beautiful, jolly, and light-hearted family! Happy Tuesday!
I've been so behind on catching up with our life that I forgot to post the most amazing news we've had this year. Last summer my wife gave birth to our third and beautiful child, Shane. Shane came into this world with absolutely no complications... on that Monday morning, Annie and I headed to the hospital to get ready to meet Shane. The delivery room was filled with tons of laughter, jokes, smiles, and hugs! My wife is a champ... truly there is no vocation like motherhood and all mothers should be celebrated if not for the mere fact of child birth. Enough words... I'll let the pictures tell the story now: Cheers to a blessed rest of 2014!
I started coming out to Cream & Sugar Cafe several months ago to meet up with a good friend. One of the things that keeps me coming back is the "at-home hospitality" that I feel whenever I come by. After spending some time hanging out and enjoying their coffee, I thought I'd show some local business love by taking pictures of the relaxing atmosphere they've created AS WELL AS try their Acai Bowl. Cream & Sugar Cafe is located in the city of La Mirada, just a stone's throw away from Biola University and Knott's Berry Farm. If you are ever in the area and are looking for an AMAZING cup of coffee or latte, or if you want a nice comforting spot to read a book, play some board games with friends, or just set up shop and type away (like i'm doing right now)... come out to Cream & Sugar Cafe... it's absolutely delightful.
An 18th birthday is a huge milestone in Filipino tradition. It is a rite of passage for a woman to be celebrated, congratulated, and "sent off" into adulthood. A Filipino Girls 18th Birthday or "Debut" is a whole-day ceremony that looks very much like a wedding would: celebrant gets ready, has an entourage, receives speeches and lots of best wishes, and dances the night away. Two weeks ago I was invited to shoot for Sabrina's 18th birthday, and as you will see in the pictures below, this was a light-hearted celebration for a young woman as she entered into womanhood. And what followed throughout the entire evening was non-stop laughter, dancing... and... more dancing! Enjoy!
Special shout out to some awesome vendors we worked with: - The Ever-So-Skilled Nieman over at LightCap Films - The Very Fun and Multi-Talented Bing with JSnap Photo Booth Co. Check them out and their amazing work on the links above! I was recently asked by a beloved friend of mine to be second shooter at one of his weddings! I'm so glad I had a chance to follow and shoot with Marlin Gramenz of Marlin Gramenz Photography. <<Check him out, he's amazing! Marlin had booked such a wonderful couple named Nate & Maura, and the afternoon and evening was nothing but pleasant with this attractive and kind-hearted couple. With lots of snickers (not the candy), smiles, and laughter, I am honored to show you some of my favorite images from Nate & Maura's Wedding... **Special shoutout also to my awesome sister-in-law, Aprille Ricafranca for the beautifully stunning job on Maura's makeup! Check out her work on her website too!
Beth and Ilya are our friends, and they're engaged! A week ago I met with Beth and Ilya for an engagement session at Seal Beach and the moments that we captured screamed to me, "this is a SoCal type of romance!" We spent the afternoon enjoying the coastal breeze, a mild october evening, and lots of snickering and affectionate embraces. Check out my favorite images below or click this link (or any of the images) to go straight to the gallery!
- jasonric Fall is here! We're a bit behind on blogging, but we have some great photos to share with you all! This past weekend, we got to shoot with Viviana and her daughter Rebecca. We have had the most wonderful honor to be a part of this family's life, capturing their family time together for the past 3 years! And that's really what we're all about - making moments and connections that transcend your normal photographer-client relationship. Here are some of our pictures from past shoot as well as our most current shoot this past weekend! 201220132014 - *On this note - this is a dead set of railroad tracks. I do not encourage / support photography on live rails - very dangerous!Let's make more memories together friends!
